| Slowing Economy Might Not Hurt All Businesses

As the Senior Engineer for Xponex Media I handle a lot of detailed
and sensitive data for our biggest customer, Rentacomputer.com.
They specialize in
short term rentals of computers, projectors, and things of that nature.
With the slowing economy a lot my customers have virtually stopped
all new development, but not them. They are continuing to have new
tools and applications programmed that help expand their business. I was
trying to figure out why the poor economy hasn't stopped their growth
and came up with this theory: that their business may
actually pick up speed. Allow me to explain...
I own a business and need to setup 30 computers for a few months to
train new employees. Under normal business conditions I might consider
just buying them so I will own them for future use; but in times like
these, when cash flow is dwindling and orders are few and far between,
I am probably going to look to save money whenever possible. This means
that renting the equipment may actually be more appealing. I mean, it
could save me 50-60%, plus the cost of setup and the hassle of dealing
with any broken equipment during the training period.
So, with this theory in mind, I would guess that the computer rental
industry may actually grow because of the poor economy. Let's
hope, because they really are Xponex's bread and butter.
